OUR Methods

Check in

As required by the State of Indiana, equipment is checked in and weighed at our facility by customer. Each lot of equipment submitted is separately tracked through our computer system giving us the ability to generate a summary, of the items received, for our customer’s records. By request, we can also submit a more detailed spreadsheet with corresponding equipment asset and serial numbers. Equipment deemed suitable for resell can be used to offset disposal costs or to build up “recycling credits” to offset disposal costs in the future. We first look at reuse opportunities for whole units, then parts. Items that have no value are either dismantled and separated into plastic, metal, electronic boards or sent as whole units to our recycling partners who possess the machinery and environmental controls needed to properly recycle these complex materials. If we can properly recycle materials locally we will do that first.

Downstream

Outgoing weight is recorded regardless of whether it is a stick of RAM sold to a local customer, or a truckload of material being sent to one of our recycling customers. Transparency is our goal here so that our customers as well as inspectors and auditors can easily assess the success of our recycling operations. Our goal is to not only achieve the highest rate of recycling, but to also work with those recycling partners who are dedicated to recovering the maximum amount of materials using methods that protect worker safety as well as the environment.

One last word….the Electronics recycling is still in its infancy. It is important that you support this industry even though there may sometimes be some costs associated with it. By supporting the recycling of composite materials, you are contributing to the development of new separation technologies that can possibly be used in other fields to recover materials that could never have been recovered. And of course competition drives down price. Let’s remember this, in these hard economic times. Let’s keep recycling!!

Environmental Policy

C&I Electronics Company Inc. is committed to the recycling of used and end-of-life electronics including all other by-products\materials associated with this process such as plastics or paper. Our goal is to prove that we can recycle large quantities of electronics from our regional area; that a qualified electronics recycler can exist and thrive in a smaller market by reaching more of the market. Part of our policy is to get the message across to recycle. Because the result of not doing so would have the greatest negative environmental impact on our community. We will strive to recycle the maximum percentage of material, the best way it can be done, with the least impact on our environment, in the most cost effective manner. Furthermore, it is our duty to find the most innovative means by which to recycle the equipment we receive. The guiding principals with which we commit to this process are the prevention of pollution and the reduction of waste; while meeting or exceeding applicable legal and other requirements now and in the future. This environmental policy will be communicated to both our employees and to the public in a variety of ways. We are also committed to recycling all the materials we receive... not just materials that generate the most revenue. From this day forward we will implement projects to continually improve our operation so we can do the most good for our community and the world by having a positive impact on the environment.
